The Parish Church of St James is situated south west of the Town Centre of Northampton. The area is known locally as 'Jimmy's End'.

The Parish of St James has a diverse population, from many ethnic backgrounds and traditions. There is a healthy fellowship with surroundings churches of other denominations.

St James is also the home of the Northampton Rugby Football Club, known as 'The Saints. The Saints was formed at the end of the 19th century by the then curate of St James Church.

It is also the home of the Town's Football Club, 'The Cobblers.
